Herēma published by Sticky Fingers Publishing

Preorders will be in the post 8th July

Herēma is the first solo-authored publication by Sticky Fingers Publishing.

Through image and text, Rose brings together the painter Agnes Martin, the land artists Beverly Buchanan and Agnes Denes, writers Rebecca Solnit, Sylvia Plath, Viviane Gornick, and the anchoresses of East Anglia for their recall of early hermeticism, and the solitude of desert fathers in vast open spaces. From the act of contemplation, in piety, to the act of painting and writing, these works, and women, breach time and space but are unified in their liminality—and the position of spirit in a spatial expanse.

Herēma is where we listen to the monolith creak.

Because the desert is not empty, publication proceeds will go to medical aid for Palestine.

* Herēma is a probable, archaic, feminine inflection of the Greek erēmos, meaning waste, desert or wilderness, ‘whence comes the English eremite, “solitary”.’

Sticky Fingers is an intra-dependant publisher based in London. It consists of designers and writers Kaiya Waerea (she/her) & Sophie Paul (she/her).
