The Stone Roses and bucket hats. Pills at the Hacienda. Pylons and power stations. The North of England is the subject of a new exhibition opening at Open Eye Gallery in Liverpool, curated by Lou Stoppard and Adam Murray.
‘North: Identity, Photography and Fashion’ looks at how the region is presented in fashion and visual culture, through photography, film, interviews, music, art and clothes. Millinery magician Stephen Jones and Manchester’s Morrissey are just some of the northerners featured, along with iconic image makers like Nick Knight and Jamie Hawkesworth who have captured the landscape and culture. We catch up with Lou and Adam, to talk Adidas trainers, the Hacienda and ‘Scally Drag’.
